New start

Thursday, 18 February, 2021, 5:27 PM

I feel like I have so many things to look forward to. First of all, if borders open up before - my brother Manne and his family will come visit me in September. It feels so far away but that is something I basically can't wait for! No one but my mother has been to our house and it has been way too long since I had a visit from any family or Swedish friends. It does get lonely here and I am praying the pandemic will come to end end sooner than later.

I have also negotiated and agreed with my tequila and I will go back to work there (part-time) Monday. So from now on I have 2 part-time jobs and that fits me much better than 1 full time as of now. More flexibility, freedom and personal time will do me good. I am very excited and am really looking forward to dive back in!

Believe it or not, me and my husband have never been on a vacation together. Well, we have had some time off together and spent those days i Sweden with my family (and we also went to a wedding in DR once) but we never had a "real" vacation just the 2 of us. It has been a long time coming. So we have now decided on a destination and at the end of March we will be going to Tulum Mexico. White beaches, piña coladas and fun in the sun - here we come!

What have I been up to?

Thursday, 18 February, 2021, 5:08 PM

It has been a good couple of weeks! Weather cold and snowy and the city is half asleep it feels like. Restaurants just started to open up indoor dining (25% capacity) but it is far away from normal. Life has gotten back into a normal routine from me now and I am settled in at my new job and am so excited for the spring to arrive!

Picture below is from last week when we hung out with our friend Kanvar.

French onion soup is a new obsession of mine and the best one I had so far is at Lou Lou! YUM!

I spent one day cross country skiing in New Jersey. It was a beautiful sunny day and I had so much fun! It has been so many years since I cross skied so it took me a few falls to get into the balance and rhythm.

If you have seen the Netflix show "Emily in Paris" you might recognize this guy. William and I filmed a sequence for french TV at our fav restaurant Lou Lou last week!

Rosie, Nick and their newborn baby Mila invited us for a Superbowl Sunday "party".OMG She was tiny and sooo cute! I still don't have the desire to have kids yet.... Something must be wrong with me...?

I took a 3-day wine class and learned so much! We tasted few different wines and also learned about food pairings. One thing is for sure, I love Sauvignon Blanc wines from New Zealand and I dislike Chardonnays from California!

I spend a lot of time with Cashie, I don't know how I would survive without her!

Valentines day is something we usually don't celebrate super big but I always like to highlight holidays and celebrate the small things in life. So this year we had a valentines breakfast together with pink pancakes and breakfast cocktails!

The drink on the left is a breakfast bramble and it is the first drink I ever made with yoghurt! T loved it!

  • 6 blackberries muddled
  • 1 3/4 oz gin
  • 1 1/2 oz Bodvar rosé
  • 3/4 oz honey syrup (2:1 honey to water)
  • 1/2 oz lemon
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 3-4 drops rose water
  • Garnish: mint sprig, rose, edible flowers ( I used rose and berry flowers), blackberries

Muddle blackberries in a shaker. Add the rest of the liquid ingredients. Shake with ice for 10 seconds. Add crushed ice into the glass. Double strain with hawthorn strainer and fine mesh strainer into the glass. Top with more crushed ice. Garnish with black berries, mint sprig, and flowers.

Our friend Celine has her birthday on Valentines so we were invited to her birthday brunch! Didn't get a lot of good pics because we were busy socializing :-)

My new moon boots are by far the best snow boots I ever had! Will def but more colors next winter!
